Load up the SUV with some blankets and chairs for a picnic on the lawn and treat the family to the Lippolis Electric Movie under the Stars showing of the animated family film Rio (PG, 2011) on Wednesday, July 31, rain or shine, at Kensico Dam Plaza in Valhalla. The movie begins at sundown.
"I am very grateful to our business neighbors, WFAS and Lippolis Electric and their team of co-sponsors for joining with the Parks Department to make this event possible," County Executive Robert P. Astorino said. "It is wonderful to be able to invite county residents to Kensico for a free movie and a picnic. This is a great example of the public and private sectors coming together to benefit our residents."
Admission and parking are free. Moviegoers should bring blankets, folding chairs and a picnic.
The movie, which will be shown in standard format, tells the story of Blu, a domesticated macaw from small-town Minnesota, who meets the fiercely independent Jewel, and takes off on an adventure to Rio de Janeiro with the "bird of his dreams."
The Lippolis Electric Movie under the Stars is presented by Westchester County Parks and sponsored by radio stations 103.9 WFAS-FM and 1230 WFAS Talk Radio, Lippolis Electric, National Lawn Sprinklers Inc. and Alamo Draft House.
