Jan. 7, 2013 -- There are hundreds of children in Westchester County who need a temporary, safe, and loving home. Westchester County has a fantastic foster care system however; there are never enough homes for theses vulnerable children – especially babies, teens and sibling groups.

The county is in need of 50 additional foster homes to serve Westchester children, according to Kevin McGuire, the commissioner of the Department of Social Services. Foster parents are given extensive training and reimbursement based on the child’s needs.

“In times of crisis, foster care provides children with a temporary safe and stable environment so that the child and their families get the assistance they need,” said Naomi Adler, CEO/President of United Way of Westchester and Putnam.
