Merry Christmas and Happy New Year from County Executive Robert P. Astorino.
"As we head into 2013, I would like to wish all Westchester residents a wonderful New Year filled with health, happiness and prosperity," Astorino said. "Enjoy your celebrations and remember to be safe."
On Friday, he wished a heartfelt Merry Christmas to all those who celebrate.
"Christmas is one of my family's favorite holidays," Astorino said. "It's a season of giving, and we enjoy spending extra time with family and friends."
Astorino began the holiday season by lighting a menorah with Rabbi Velvl Butman and other Chabad Lubavitch rabbis from Westchester County. The lighting ceremony also included dancing and spinning a dreidel to begin the eight-day Hanukkah celebration.
He also extended season's best wishes to those celebrating Kwanzaa and other holidays.
"Leading up to the New Year, I hope everyone gets to spend as much time enjoying the company of family and friends as possible," Astorino said. "That's what this time of year is all about."
