GOLDEN HARVEST DANCE FOR SENIORS SET FOR OCTOBER 6 AT THE COUNTY CENTER Senior citizens will showcase their talents and dance the afternoon away at the annual Golden Harvest Dance and Talent Show and on Tuesday, October 6, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., at the Westchester County Center in White Plains. The doors to the County Center will open at 10:30 a.m. The Golden Harvest Dance and Talent Show are sponsored by Westchester County Parks and the county’s Department of Senior Programs and Services. The event is open to all Westchester County senior citizens who are 60 years of age and older. Beginning at 11 a.m., seniors will provide their own entertainment as they sing and dance for the audience during the senior talent show. Those interested in performing during the talent show must pre-register by calling (914) 462-1542. Then, from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m., seniors can travel back in time to the Big Band era as they listen and dance to the Milt Gerver Orchestra perform classics like “In the Mood,” “Moonlight Serenade” and “Tuxedo Junction.” A regular favorite at Playland Park every summer, the 16-piece Milt Gerver Orchestra also features two vocalists. The band’s repertoire ranges from popular favorites from the Big Band era to the contemporary sounds of today’s disco and hot Latin music.
Box lunches, which include a turkey sandwich, apple, cookie and juice, will also be available during this year’s event. Suggested contribution is $4. Lunches must be ordered in advance by Thursday, September 24. Table reservations are required and will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. Admission to the dance is free; parking at the County Center is free for the event. The Westchester County Center is located at 198 Central Avenue in White Plains. The building and parking lot are barrier-free and are fully accessible for people with disabilities. The County Center is also served by the Westchester County BEE-LINE bus system.
