Protecting Youth
Protecting our children is a top priority for Westchester County. The county's Protect the Kids Committee is working on ways to protect children from sexual predators. Other programs focus on preventing youth violence and gang involvement. Educational programs like Innoculating Our Children Against Sexual Abuse encourage parents to teach their children early on about precautionary measures they can take against child molesters. Westchester is also working to make sure that child abuse is reported by training professionals as mandated reporters and instructing the public on what to do if they suspect child abuse. Keeping guns out children's hands and helping teens abstain from using alcohol and illegal drugs, like steriods, is also part of the county's efforts to protect young people.
