Monthly Violations and Penalties

On a monthly basis, the Westchester County Board of Health meets to review violations of the Sanitary Code and issue violations and penalties.

Sanitary Code

The Westchester County Sanitary Code consists of laws enforced by the Westchester County Board of Health and the Westchester County Department of Health to assure the health of the public.

Tanning Salons

Under this law, tanning beds are off-limits to children under the age of 16. For older teens (16- & 17-year-olds), a parent or guardian must appear in person and provide written permission at the tanning salon.

Smoking Laws

The text of some of the county and state laws concerning tobacco. Westchester and New York State have adopted laws that ban smoking in many indoor places. In addition, state law bans the selling of tobacco products to minors.

Dangerous Dog Registry

New York State Dept. of Agriculture and Markets has passed a law that governs licensing identification of dangerous dogs and wild animals. In response to this law, Westchester County has developed a “Dangerous Dog Registry”.
