Sharps Smarts

A guide on the proper disposal of used needles, syringes and lancets, including a list of disposal sites throughout the county.   The brochure, produced by the Westchester County Health Department and the Department of Environmental Facilities, gives helpful guidelines for the proper storage and disposal of these items and lists hospitals and nursing homes throughout the county that accept sharps for final disposal.  The brochure is important to sharps users to protect their own safety as well as to protect the workers who handle trash.

Businesses: Recycle Your Mercury

Explains the law and provides a list of  companies that offer full services to businesses for the handling of fluorescent lamps and other mercury added devices.
