Permit regulations and insurance requirements are not uniform across the county. They vary by municipality. For complete, up-to-date information, call the Westchester County Film Office at (914) 995-2917. If you prefer, the
Film Office can send you a "Guide to Filming in Westchester." This publication is updated regularly and contains all municipal filming policies.
Filming on county-owned properties requires a permit and the submission of a check for the location fee, coordinated through the Film Office, 48 hours prior to the shoot date. Both the fees for the location and terms of the permit are tailored to fit the needs and budget of each production--one size doesn't fit all.
Every project must submit an insurance certificate naming The County of Westchester as Additional Insured and Certificate Holder at 148 Martine Avenue, White Plains, NY 10601. If your project is:
- still photography - the total aggregate insurance amount should be a minimum of one million dollars
- for television commercials - the total aggregate amount should be two million dollars
- for a feature film/television series - the total aggregate amount should be a minimum of five million dollars.
Before securing permits and finalizing insurance, we suggest you contact the Film Office at (914) 995-2917.
