Kids -- get those cameras rolling and creative juices flowing. Your work could make it to the big screen at the upcoming Future Film Makers Festival. The event, also known as the 11th Annual Westchester International Film Festival, is coming to Clearview Cinemas, Cinema 100 in White Plains on Saturday, March 27. Last year, the festival screened 43 films from 16 competing Westchester County public and private high schools.

Films will be judged by a panel of filmmakers and professionals. The first place winner will receive a $1,000 cash prize and, for his or her school, a professional high definition camera package. The second and third place winners will receive a $500 cash prize and their schools will receive a $500 stipend to put toward film equipment of their choice. All entrants whose films are screened will be given a commemorative certificate.

The student application deadline for this year’s festival is Friday, Feb. 12, 2010. This exciting all-day event allows students and teachers alike an educational and entertaining opportunity to share their ideas and their work with each other.
