Medicare Information for 2008
HELP AVAILABLE WITH MEDICARE ISSUES, Do you have questions about Medicare? If so, Westchester County’s Department of Senior Programs and Services (DSPS) has answers. The department’s Medicare Information Line is open year-round at (914) 813-6100. Trained counselors can provide customized advice to each caller in English or Spanish. Questions can range from Medicare’s Part D - which subsidizes prescription drug costs – to Medicare Advantage Plans, appeals and any other Medicare-related topic. DSPS will present a program on Medicare “basics” on Thursday, Jan. 31 from 10 a.m. to noon at the County Office Building, eighth-floor conference room, 9 S. First Ave., Mount Vernon. Jeanne Pici, a DSPS program administrator, will discuss Medicare Parts A, B, C and D, Medigap insurance, cost-sharing and preventive benefits. She will also talk about New York’s Elderly Pharmaceutical Insurance Coverage (EPIC) program. EPIC is a state-sponsored plan that helps eligible seniors pay prescription drug costs.
